Cat and Dog Body Language Can Tell You A Lot!

Tuesday, September 30th, 2014

Spunky and Fearless, Spunky Murder Mysteries Hi there, Ms. Spunky here. Did you know dogs are great interpreters of human body language? That’s because we study you very carefully. Well, I shouldn’t speak for the cats, but humans have always fascinated me. How can I put it…humans are better than a flying stick, and more special than a bouncing ball! Now, I wouldn’t say all humans are better than a lamb chop, but they all are certainly a very special breed.

Did you know that dogs and cats also have their own body language? We are always showing you when we are happy, scared or angry. If you are observant, you can decipher what we are trying to tell you by our body language and the sounds we make.

Come. Sit. This great doggie sage will gladly teach you. (more…)

Spunky’s Free Advice: How to Feel Safe

Tuesday, September 16th, 2014

scared As we mentioned in a previous blog, we are now accepting calls for advice from our readers, which we (Spunky, Dr. Richards, and pals) will do our best to answer! The latest request for our wise counsel follows, along with our response:

Dear Spunky,

I am 9 years old and all this talk about terrorists scares me. My parents say there are some very bad people in the world, but they will keep me safe. But my parents are not with me at school or when I am with my friends, so what can I do to keep myself safe? I don’t like being scared. – Billy T. (more…)

Spunky’s Free Advice: Stepdad Problems — Please Help!

Tuesday, September 9th, 2014

mom can we talk As we blogged about recently, we are now accepting calls for advice from our readers, which we (Spunky, Dr. Richards, and pals) will do our best to answer! The latest request for our wise counsel follows, along with our response:

Dear Spunky,

My parents divorced three years ago. I am now 16. Six months ago, my mother began dating another man, and now they are getting serious. I am very worried they’ll marry and that he will become my stepfather. I can’t stand the man. He is a rich, loud, arrogant jerk who told my mother he thinks all kids should be sent away to boarding school. I did talk to my Dad about the situation and he says I could come and live with him if my mother would allow it (she has primary custody), but I know it would break her heart if I left her. Please tell me what I should do; the idea that his man could become my stepfather is giving me nightmares.  – Patty K.s (more…)

Strange Cat Behavior: Do Your Cats Like to Be Bopped?

Thursday, September 4th, 2014

tabby cat I live with a whole passel of cats. Since I am a terrier mutt, and not a cat, I had to learn a thing or two about these felines. I came to accept that they see the world differently than a dog, and, of course, they are convinced they’re the superior species. I am kind and let them keep their illusions. What I do know is that cats make great buddies and have very special talents, which have proved invaluable to me on many occasion.

After living with this many cats for so many years, I now consider myself somewhat of an expert. There are two, Bobby and Sweetie, who do not fit the usual mold. They enjoy (more…)

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2014

birthday balloons As we blogged about recently, we are now accepting calls for advice from our readers, which we (Spunky, Dr. Richards, and pals) will do our best to answer! The latest request for our wise counsel follows, along with our response:

Dear Spunky,

I want a boyfriend so badly, my heart is about to break. I am 13, not pretty, with above average smarts, and I am a little overweight. All the girls I know have really cool boyfriends. One of the geeks, Joey, asked me out, but my friends would bust a gut laughing at me if I said yes. Joey is a nice guy and he has always been sweet to me, but I don’t see how I could possibly be seen with him. The school dance is in two weeks and I am really feeling desperate. Help! – Susie M.

Cats vs. Dogs: Name Their Main Differences!

Thursday, August 14th, 2014

cats vs dogs Hi, Spunky here –

This morning, my cat buddy Fearless and I were having one of our well known debates. This one was about the differences between cats and dogs. Since we are pals, we do not debate if a cat or a dog is the superior species. We believe if a cat or dog is given the right human, then either one can supply a great outpouring of love and affection. Which, as you know, is our primary job on this planet. For us it isn’t about which is the better species, it’s about the differences between them. (more…)

GET READY – A NEW ADVENTURE IS ABOUT TO BEGIN

Wednesday, January 8th, 2014

Hi there, Spunky here! Welcome all you critter lovers. I have some news to set your tails a-wagging! Our THIRD adventure is heading to the publisher! This mystery almost had us stumped, but you know a determined terrier mutt and a bunch of clever felines never give up.

I wonder – what do you think the most determined breed of dog might be? I choose to not call us stubborn because there is always a goal to our behavior – the question is – will the human be smart enough to figure it out?

Let us know your opinion on the most determined dog.

Hey, my doggie opinion is that every single cat I have ever known is “determined”, it does not matter what their breed is – do you humans agree?
